IIT Delhi and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Join Hands to Boost STEM Education Through Landmark MoU

Taking a major leap toward transforming school education, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 24, 2025, to strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and provide professional development opportunities for teachers. This marks the first-ever collaboration between KVS and any IIT for STEM outreach, setting a precedent for academic partnerships aimed at nurturing scientific curiosity among young learners.

The MoU formalizes ongoing collaborative efforts between IIT Delhi and KVS, particularly through the Sci Tech Spins (STS) Lecture Series, organized by the Office of Academic Outreach & New Initiatives, IIT Delhi. This year alone, eight sessions of the STS series have been completed, engaging students from classes 9 to 12 across Delhi-NCR schools. Notably, around 3000 students from Kendriya Vidyalayas actively participated in the sessions, gaining valuable exposure to real-world scientific applications and innovative thinking.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries from both institutions. From IIT Delhi, Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director, and Professor Arvind K. Nema, Deputy Director (Operations) led the proceedings. They were joined by Professor Dhanya, Dean (Academics); Professor Shilpi Sharma, Associate Dean Academics (Outreach & New Initiatives); and Atul Vyas, Registrar. Representing KVS, Smt. Prachi Pandey, IA&AS, Commissioner, KVS, and Joint Secretary, DoSE&L, Ministry of Education, appreciated the ongoing initiatives and highlighted the importance of such collaborations in empowering both students and educators.

One of the key programs discussed was Manasvi, a STEM mentorship initiative for high school girls, which has been widely recognized for inspiring female students to pursue STEM careers. Under the new MoU, IIT Delhi will expand its mentorship and training activities to include skill enhancement programs, teacher development workshops, and exposure visits for KV students.

Through this collaboration, KV students and teachers will participate in a range of STEM-based activities hosted by IIT Delhi. These programs will make learning interactive and fun, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Faculty and student volunteers from IIT Delhi will also conduct outreach sessions in KV schools, helping students understand cutting-edge technologies and motivating them to explore scientific fields more deeply.

A crucial element of this partnership is the structured feedback mechanism. IIT Delhi will continuously assess the outcomes of its outreach programs by gathering insights from participating students and teachers. This will help refine the initiatives and ensure they remain impactful and relevant to evolving educational needs.

The collaboration between IIT Delhi and KVS stands as a milestone in India’s STEM education landscape, aiming to ignite curiosity, promote scientific temper, and modernize teaching methods across schools. By empowering teachers with innovative teaching methodologies and exposing students to real-world scientific experiences, this partnership paves the way for a stronger, tech-savvy generation ready to lead India’s innovation-driven future.

In essence, the IIT Delhi–KVS MoU 2025 is not just a collaboration—it’s a commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
