In a major move to enhance ease of travel and streamline toll collection, the Government of India has introduced a ₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass exclusively for private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans. Effective from August 15, 2025, the initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to promote a digital-first tolling ecosystem while reducing congestion and toll-related disputes across India’s National Highways.
The pass offers validity for one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first. This is particularly beneficial for frequent highway commuters, especially in regions where toll plazas are situated at shorter distances, often leading to unnecessary delays and frequent toll deductions. The new system ensures smoother passage and predictability in toll expenditure for private vehicle owners.
The ₹3,000 Annual FASTag Pass can be easily activated via the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or through official portals of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The user-friendly digital process ensures that vehicle owners can subscribe to the pass without visiting toll booths or physical centers.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FASTAG ANNUAL PASS:
- Cost: ₹3,000 (One-time payment)
- Eligibility: Private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans)
- Validity: 1 year OR 200 trips (whichever is earlier)
- Activation: Through Rajmarg Yatra App, NHAI, or MoRTH platforms
This pass is expected to significantly benefit commuters who travel regularly on specific routes, such as those living in suburbs or towns near metro cities. It also reduces the administrative burden on toll operators and eliminates multiple transactions for regular travelers, thereby saving time and improving efficiency.
The launch of the ₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass is in line with India’s ongoing mission to enhance infrastructure, leverage technology, and improve road user experience. It reinforces the government’s commitment to transparent, efficient, and commuter-friendly tolling mechanisms.
With the new pass set to go live from Independence Day 2025, vehicle owners are encouraged to take advantage of this cost-effective solution and contribute to a more digitally empowered and efficient highway system.
