DSERT releases ECCE Teacher Training Module and LKG Workbooks for 2025

The Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT), Karnataka has officially released the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Teacher’s Training Module, Teacher’s Handbook, and a comprehensive set of LKG Workbooks for the academic year 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen foundational learning and improve the quality of pre-primary education across the state.

Recognizing the crucial importance of the early years in a child’s development, DSERT has curated specialized learning and teaching materials that align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals. The ECCE Teacher’s Training Module is designed to equip teachers with essential pedagogical knowledge, classroom strategies, child psychology insights, and play-based teaching techniques tailored for early learners.

Accompanying the training module, the Teacher’s Handbook provides practical guidance, activity ideas, and assessment tools, enabling educators to implement engaging and age-appropriate learning environments. The handbook serves as a ready reference for LKG educators, supporting them in delivering structured yet flexible lessons.

To support student learning, DSERT has introduced a set of well-structured and visually appealing LKG Workbooks covering key developmental domains:

LKG EVS Workbook: Introduces children to the world around them through nature-based activities, basic environmental awareness, and experiential learning.

LKG Mathematics Workbook: Builds early numeracy skills through counting, shapes, patterns, and number recognition using child-friendly illustrations and exercises.

LKG Workbook Language-2 (English): Enhances listening, speaking, reading, and pre-writing skills in English through stories, rhymes, picture-based vocabulary, and interactive tasks.

LKG Workbook Language-1 (Kannada): Focuses on strengthening the mother tongue with age-appropriate Kannada alphabets, word formation, songs, and comprehension activities.

These resources are designed keeping in mind the developmental needs of children aged 3-6 years. They promote holistic development including cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical skills.

The release of these materials underscores the government’s commitment to improving early education infrastructure, particularly in government and aided schools. Teachers across Karnataka are encouraged to utilize these tools to create joyful learning experiences that lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

With this 2025 rollout, DSERT is setting a benchmark in early childhood education, aiming for greater equity, inclusivity, and quality in the foundational years of schooling.
