In a significant move to elevate the quality of education in Delhi’s government schools, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched three innovative educational programs on Thursday during the ‘Namo Vidya Utsav’, held as part of the ongoing 15-day ‘Seva Pakhwada’ campaign. The newly introduced programs – New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision (NEEEV), Science of Living, and Rashtraneeti – are aimed at bridging the gap between public and private schools and fostering holistic development among students.
Vision Behind the Programs
Speaking at the event, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that the programs were designed to equip students with practical skills and values for the future. She explained that Rashtraneeti aims to nurture responsible and civilised citizens, while NEEEV focuses on preparing students to become job creators rather than just job seekers. The Science of Living program is intended to instill life skills, critical thinking, and well-being strategies among students.
Highlighting her personal connection with government schools, the CM remarked, “I studied in a Delhi government school myself. One flyover less can be built, but schools must be improved.” She underscored the importance of retaining students in higher classes, noting, “Results won’t improve if children are expelled in Classes 9 and 11. Instead, they should be encouraged and supported.”
Teachers as Catalysts for Change
During the launch, CM Gupta called upon teachers to bring renewed energy and innovation into classrooms. She said, “After getting a government job, it is possible that we slow down under the burden of responsibilities. But I want teachers to keep their spark alive.” Quoting a couplet to emphasize her point, she added, “Your qualifications are no less than those of private school teachers. The only difference is in energy.”
She further stressed the critical role of teachers, saying, “A child looks at their teacher as a hero more than their parents. The children you work with cannot afford expensive tuition. They depend on you.” The CM’s remarks highlighted the need for teachers to inspire and mentor students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Support from Delhi Education Minister
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, present at the event, lauded the launch, noting that it was essential to engage teachers directly as they are the key implementers of these programs. He said, “Children who come to school in uniform are not just students for me, they are future prime ministers, scholars, scientists, doctors, and teachers.”
The NEEEV, Science of Living, and Rashtraneeti programs are expected to create a more inclusive, innovative, and value-driven learning environment in Delhi government schools. By combining skill development, entrepreneurial training, and civic education, these initiatives aim to transform public education in Delhi, making it comparable to private institutions.
The launch of these educational programs under ‘Seva Pakhwada’ reflects Delhi’s commitment to strengthening government schools, empowering teachers, and preparing students for future challenges. With a focus on energy, innovation, and inclusivity, CM Rekha Gupta’s initiative promises to bridge the gap between public and private education and foster the development of well-rounded, responsible, and skilled young citizens.
