The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially commenced the registration process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 at official portal. Aspiring law students can now fill out the application form for admission to undergraduate (LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) programmes at NLUs and numerous other law colleges across India. The portal will remain open until October 31, 2025, providing candidates with a dedicated window to apply for this premier law entrance exam.

CLAT 2026 Important Dates

  • Registration Window: August 1 to October 31, 2025
  • Exam Date: December 7, 2025 (Sunday)
  • Exam Time: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Mode: Pen and paper-based, single shift

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

For LLB (UG) Admissions:

  • Candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
  • For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories, the minimum requirement is 40%.
  • There is no upper age limit for CLAT 2026 LLB aspirants.

For LLM (PG) Admissions:

  • Candidates should hold an LLB degree (3-year or 5-year) with at least 50% marks (General/OBC/PwD categories).
  • For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum required marks are 45%.
  • Final year LLB students can also apply but must meet the minimum marks at the time of admission.

Application Fee & Payment

  • General/OBC/PwD/NRI/PIO/OCI: ₹4,000
  • SC/ST/BPL candidates: ₹3,500
  • Additional: To download previous years’ CLAT question papers, candidates must pay ₹500 per set.
  • Mode of Payment: Online only (UPI, Net banking, credit/debit card, wallet options available).
  • Bank transaction charges may be applicable in addition.

Application Process

  1. Visit the official portal.
  2. Go to the appropriate (UG or PG) registration page.
  3. Complete the registration with a valid email ID and mobile number.
  4. Fill in the application form, upload required documents, and select preferred NLUs and exam centers.
  5. Pay the applicable fee and submit the form.
  6. Save a copy of the payment receipt and final application for future reference.
