The Centre for Indian and Foreign Languages (CIFL), functioning under the Open Learning Development Centre (OLDC) at the University of Delhi, offers a remarkable opportunity for language enthusiasts to explore world cultures through its part-time certificate courses in foreign languages. The CIFL’s curriculum covers some of the most globally relevant and in-demand languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese. All courses are academically supported by the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies and the Department of East Asian Studies, ensuring rich and diverse learning experiences. Students who successfully complete the course receive certification from the University of Delhi, following university-conducted examinations.
To be eligible, candidates must have passed the 10+2 level (or equivalent). The selection process is merit-based, calculated using the best four subjects at the senior secondary level, with English or Hindi as a mandatory component. There is no entrance test, but applicants must present original documents for verification. Admission is subject to the availability of seats, and a non-refundable application fee of ₹200 per course is applicable.
