The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has officially launched the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps (BBSC) 2025, This initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of multilingualism and the celebration of India’s rich linguistic diversity.
The Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps (BBSC) aims to engage students from CBSE-affiliated schools across the country in an enjoyable and interactive learning experience with one more Indian language, in addition to the languages they already study. These summer camps are scheduled to be conducted for a total of 28 hours during the vacation period, with flexibility for schools to adapt the schedule to local contexts. The program is designed for physical mode participation, with at least 75 to 100 students per school.
The NCERT will serve as the nodal and technical partner, providing daily structured resource material in 22 scheduled Indian languages. The curriculum will focus on basic conversational skills, such as greetings, vocabulary building, role-playing real-life scenarios, cultural appreciation, storytelling, music, drama, and quizzes. The activities are crafted to be fun, engaging, and non-assessive, promoting confidence and enthusiasm for language learning.
Teachers from the schools or volunteers from the community, including parents and language experts, will facilitate the camps. Schools are encouraged to identify local linguistic needs and preferences and design the camp accordingly. The initiative also promotes the formation of Bharatiya Bhasha Clubs for continued language practice beyond the camp.
In addition to fostering national integration, cultural unity, and communicative competence, this program seeks to prepare students for a multilingual future. All participants, including facilitators, will receive certificates of participation in a standardized format provided by NCERT
The Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps (BBSC) 2025 initiative reflects a transformative step towards implementing the NEP 2020 vision, encouraging students to proudly declare: “I learnt one more Indian language and discovered a new India.” Schools have been urged to plan well in advance, engage students wholeheartedly, and document activities through photos and reports, which are to be submitted online, for more details CLICK HERE
