The Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship 2025–26 is a prestigious initiative launched by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. This fellowship is designed to recognize, encourage, and support translational research and innovation by individuals in the engineering profession across India.
This fellowship seeks to promote cutting-edge research that can bridge the gap between theory and practical application, enabling impactful solutions to national and global challenges. Only 10 exceptional candidates will be selected for the 2025–26 cycle.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To apply for this esteemed fellowship, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be an Indian national or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- Hold permanent employment at a public-funded institution in India.
- Possess adequate professional qualifications with at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of service remaining at their current institute as of the award date.
- Not hold any other fellowship concurrently.
FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS
The Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship offers substantial support to help recipients pursue transformative research:
- A monthly fellowship of ₹25,000, in addition to their regular salary.
- An annual research grant of ₹15,00,000 to fund innovative projects.
- An annual overhead of ₹1,00,000 provided to the host institution for administrative support.
These resources aim to empower engineers to scale their research for societal benefit, while also enhancing the innovation ecosystem within Indian institutions.

- Bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcripts.
- Documentation of professional qualifications.
- Proof of employment such as a bonafide certificate or employer’s recommendation letter.

SELECTION PROCESS
The final selection of fellows will be overseen by a Search-Cum-Selection Expert Committee, which will assess applications based on technical merit, research impact, and potential for innovation and translation into real-world outcomes.
