Ministry of Women and Child Development Launches Revamped Mission Vatsalya Portal for Child Protection

In a major step toward strengthening child protection services across the country, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has launched the revamped Mission Vatsalya Portal, a secure, integrated digital platform designed to bring all stakeholders involved in child welfare under one unified system. The platform aims to streamline processes, eliminate data duplication, and ensure better coordination at both the State and district levels.

The new portal consolidates two earlier child tracking platforms—Khoya-Paya and TrackChild—into a single, comprehensive digital ecosystem. This integration not only simplifies data management but also enables real-time tracking and monitoring of vulnerable children, including those who are missing, found, in need of care, or in conflict with the law. The portal is supported by robust MIS (Management Information System) Dashboards, enhancing decision-making through data-driven insights and enabling efficient resource allocation.

Key stakeholders now actively using the portal include the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and other frontline institutions that are critical to the delivery of child care, rehabilitation, and adoption services.

One of the most notable features of the upgraded Mission Vatsalya platform is its integration with the Toll-Free Child Helpline (1098), which operates 24x7x365 to provide emergency assistance to children in distress. The helpline is now linked with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Women Helpline (181), ensuring a multi-agency, coordinated response for faster and more effective intervention in critical cases.

The revamped portal aligns with the broader goals of Mission Vatsalya—to secure a nurturing environment for every child through institutional support, responsive governance, and community involvement. By digitally empowering stakeholders and creating a seamless flow of information, the government aims to enhance the accountability, transparency, and speed of child welfare responses.
