Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025, making history as the first Thai woman to win the prestigious title. The 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant took place on 31st May 2025, in Hyderabad, India, featuring 108 contestants from around the globe. Opal received the crown from outgoing titleholder Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic.
At 21, Opal is a political science student specializing in international relations at Thammasat University. Fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese, she impressed the judges not only with her poise and intelligence but also with her dedication to social causes. Her “OpalForHer” campaign focuses on breast cancer awareness, inspired by her personal experience of undergoing breast cancer surgery at the age of 16.
During the final round, Opal delivered a heartfelt response to a question about deserving the Miss World title. She emphasized the importance of giving back and being a beacon of hope, stating, “Through the Beauty with a Purpose programme, I have learned that living a meaningful life means giving back dreams and hope to those who have lost them
Opal’s victory is a significant milestone for Thailand, marking its first win in the Miss World pageant. Her achievement is expected to inspire many in her home country and beyond. The event also highlighted the global diversity of the competition, with Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu securing the first runner-up position, followed by Poland’s Maja Klajda and Martinique’s Aurélie Joachim.
The Miss World 2025 pageant was co-hosted by former Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India’s Nandini Gupta reached the final 20 but did not advance further.
Opal’s win not only brings pride to Thailand but also underscores the evolving role of beauty pageants in promoting social causes and empowering women worldwide.
