The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with MyGov, is organizing an exciting online quiz on the GOBARdhan initiative. This initiative, a priority under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen-Phase II, aims to transform waste into wealth by promoting sustainable waste management and a circular economy.
ABOUT THE GOBARDHAN INITIATIVE
Launched by the Government of India in April 2018, GOBARdhan (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan) is a key component of solid waste management for ensuring cleanliness in rural areas. This initiative focuses on converting cattle dung, agricultural residues, and other organic waste into biogas, Compressed Biogas (CBG), and organic manure, thereby generating wealth and energy from waste.
Implemented through a “Whole of Government” approach, multiple ministries and departments are working together to scale up this initiative and drive a sustainable, circular economy. The DDWS serves as the nodal coordinating department for this program.
