The Karnataka High Court single member bench has issued an order cancelling the 5th and 8th class Assessment Examination that was scheduled to be held from 13th to 18th March 2023, the Karnataka Sate Government has filed an appeal challenging the order of the high court single-member bench.
Karnataka High Court, which held a hearing in this regard today (14th March 2023), refused to stay the order cancelling the circular and adjourned the hearing to tomorrow (15th March 2023).
The Education Department has instructed the Principal Secretary to submit an affidavit and the High Court has adjourned the hearing till tomorrow (15th March 2023)
In order to improve the learning standards of the 5th and 8th class students of the state, the Department of School Education and Literacy had decided to conduct an Assessment Test, released the time table, Learning Outcomes and Model Papers of all subjectsÂ
If the Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court gives permission to conduct the examination, all the Government, Aided and Private schools teaching the state curriculum will have to conduct the Assessment examination for the students of class 5 and class 8. If permission is not given, the examination will be conducted at the respective school level instead of the board examination.
The education department has already postponed the Assessment Examination of class 5 and 8 scheduled to be held from 13th March 2023
