The debate on New Pension Scheme (NPS) vs Old Pension Scheme (OPS) rocked the Karnataka Legislative Council, the ruling party BJP MLCs Ayanur Manjunath and SV Sankanur walked out with JD(S) member Marithibbe Gowda demanding the scrapping of the National Pension Scheme (NPS)

During question hour the BJP’s Talwar Sabanna raised the question of NPS, He asked in the wake of ongoing protests at Freedom Park in Bengaluru by the State Government employees who are against New Pension Scheme (NPS) the State government to take a correct stand on demands seeking the replacement of New Pension Scheme (NPS) with the old pension scheme (OPS), around 2.97 Lakh State Government Employees suffer due to New Pension Scheme (NPS) 

Karnataka State Law & Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy said Considering the financial position of state the Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai would consider the plea of the agitating employees,

He added the Pension policy was changed by the Central Government in 2004 and was adopted in Karnataka state in 2006, there was financial burden under Old Pension Scheme (OPS) so the New policy was adopted, he further added the State Government Employees appointed from 2006 are informed earlier regarding New Pension Scheme (NPS)
