Davangere University has officially released the notification inviting applications for Ph.D. programs for the academic year 2024-25. This announcement opens up research opportunities across a broad spectrum of disciplines in the Faculties of Arts, Science & Technology, and Commerce. A total of 187 Ph.D. vacancies are available across departments including Kannada, English, Political Science, Education, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, and Commerce (M.Com), among others.
Eligibility for applying includes a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized institution, with a relaxation to 50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Cat-1/Physically Challenged categories.
Applicants must submit their applications using the prescribed format along with a fee of Rs. 2,000 (Rs. 1,000 for SC/ST/Cat-1). Payments can be made via Demand Draft, SBI Challan, or online through SBI Collect.
Application forms can be obtained directly from the Deputy Registrar’s office at the university campus or downloaded from the official Portal
The completed applications, along with relevant documents and proof of fee payment, must be submitted to the Chairperson of the respective department on or before 9th May 2025.
The admission process includes an entrance examination followed by an interview. However, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET/JRF, or GATE are exempted from the entrance test. It is important to note that qualifying in the entrance test does not ensure admission—final selection will depend on performance in both the test and interview, along with adherence to reservation norms and university guidelines.
The university has clarified that applications will be accepted on working days between 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM, except on holidays and 2nd/4th Saturdays. All applicants are required to submit attested copies of their documents, and those applying under reservation categories must provide valid certificates. Incomplete or incorrectly filled applications will be rejected.
