ASSEB Announces HS Final Examination 2026: Online Form Fill-up Begins from October 22

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), formerly known as the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), has officially announced the schedule for the Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination 2026. As per the latest notification, the examinations will be conducted between February and March 2026. The online form fill-up process for eligible candidates will begin on October 22, 2025, and continue until November 25, 2025. Students are advised to complete their registration through the official ASSEB portal well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

According to the official notification issued on October 13, 2025, all junior colleges and higher secondary schools under Division-II of the Board have been instructed to ensure that no eligible student is left out during the online form submission. The ASSEB has clarified that only online applications will be accepted, and no offline submissions will be entertained under any circumstances. This digital-only approach reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in examination management.

The ASSEB also highlighted that a student’s registration number remains valid for five years from the year of registration. However, students who fail to complete the online form fill-up process within the given timeframe will not be permitted to appear in the HS Final Examination 2026. This policy ensures timely data verification and proper documentation across all affiliated institutions.

Further, ASSEB stated that only students enrolled in recognized and approved institutions will be considered as regular candidates. Those studying in non-recognized institutions during the 2024–25 academic year will be treated as Institutional Private (IP) candidates, and will be required to pay additional IP fees. In case an institution loses its recognition before the examination, all its students will automatically fall under the IP category.

Referring to the Government Notification No. E-238074/471 dated November 7, 2022, the Board reiterated that students from government, provincialised, and recognized venture institutions, whose parents’ annual income does not exceed ₹2 lakh, are exempted from paying examination fees. This initiative aims to support economically weaker sections and promote inclusive education across the state of Assam.

In a separate notification dated October 14, 2025, ASSEB confirmed that Betterment, Re-appearance, Subject Repeat, Compartmental, and Certain Subject candidates are also eligible to apply for the upcoming HS Final Examination. Students seeking improvement in performance can appear in a maximum of four subjects, while their previous marks in the remaining subjects will remain valid. A new consolidated mark sheet will be issued after the old one is surrendered, ensuring fair and transparent record-keeping.

The Board further emphasized that no change of subject or examination scheme will be allowed after the submission of forms. Principals and institutional heads are directed to supervise the form fill-up process carefully to avoid any errors or omissions. ASSEB has also made it clear that institutional heads will be held responsible if any eligible student fails to register due to administrative negligence.

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has urged all affiliated schools and colleges to complete the process accurately and on time to ensure a smooth and error-free conduct of the HS Final Examination 2026, for more details CLICK HERE
