In a groundbreaking move to integrate technology into education, school teachers in Delhi are set to undergo hands-on training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance classroom learning and streamline their teaching methods. The initiative, spearheaded by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi, aims to empower teachers with the skills to use AI effectively for personalised learning, smarter assessments, and classroom innovation.
The training programme, scheduled for October 8 and 9, 2025, will be held under the ‘AI-Mediated Classroom Project’ — a special initiative designed to equip teachers with essential AI knowledge and digital tools. According to the SCERT circular released on Friday, the project will help teachers adopt innovative teaching approaches while reducing their workload in non-teaching tasks such as creating PowerPoint presentations, generating extracurricular ideas, and editing photos.
Two-Phase AI Training Plan
The AI-Mediated Classroom Project will be rolled out in two phases:
Phase 1: The first phase will train 100 Computer Science teachers from 50 Delhi government schools through a two-day capacity-building programme. These teachers will then become master trainers, guiding their peers on integrating AI tools into their classrooms.
“Once trained, these 100 teachers will act as master trainers and help other teachers use AI tools effectively in teaching and administrative work,” an SCERT official told PTI.
Phase 2: In the second phase, school-level training will be organised for subject teachers of Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, and Social Science who teach Classes 6 and 9.

Each of the 50 selected schools will nominate three teachers from each subject — a total of 15 teachers per school — to undergo the training.
The Directorate of Education has already identified 50 government schools and selected 100 teachers for this pilot project, marking the beginning of an educational transformation in Delhi’s classrooms.
AI Tools for Teachers: Enhancing Efficiency and Creativity
Teachers are expected to be introduced to a range of AI-based tools, including:
- ‘Napkin’ – a tool that can generate images from text prompts, useful for creative classroom visuals.
- ‘Gamma’ – an AI application that creates PowerPoint presentations quickly, helping teachers prepare engaging content effortlessly.
By leveraging these technologies, teachers can reduce time spent on routine tasks and focus more on student engagement and learning quality.
Empowering Educators for Digital Learning
According to the SCERT, this initiative is aligned with the vision of building future-ready classrooms that promote AI-enabled pedagogy and digital innovation. The project not only aims to train teachers but also to collect feedback and monitor implementation success to ensure the tools are used effectively.
An official added, “Teachers often spend a lot of time preparing lesson materials and planning events. With AI tools, they can now save time and focus more on students’ holistic learning experiences.”
Delhi’s Education Transformation
With 1,075 government schools, 16,633 teachers, and over 8.24 lakh students, Delhi’s education system stands to benefit immensely from this AI integration. By empowering teachers to use AI-driven tools, the SCERT aims to enhance classroom engagement, foster creativity, and improve learning outcomes.
This initiative represents a major step toward digital transformation in education, preparing both teachers and students for a future shaped by artificial intelligence and technology.
