Punjab Government Launches Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Low-Income Students

In a major step towards promoting educational equity, Punjab’s Social Security Minister, Dr Baljit Kaur, has announced a new overseas scholarship scheme for students from low-income backgrounds. The initiative is specifically designed to benefit Scheduled Caste (SC) students and children of landless agricultural labourers, enabling them to pursue higher education abroad without financial barriers.

Full Financial Support for Overseas Education

The newly launched Punjab Overseas Scholarship Scheme 2025 will cover the entire cost of education abroad, including: Student visas, Air tickets, Tuition fees, Living expenses, Annual maintenance allowance of ₹13.17 lakh, Contingency allowance of ₹1.35 lakh

This comprehensive financial support ensures that deserving students can focus solely on their academic journey without worrying about economic challenges.

Dr Baljit Kaur emphasized the government’s commitment, stating:

“We stand firmly by the children of low-income families and will provide complete support for those who want to pursue higher education abroad.”
