CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2026: Sports Exam in May
According to the CBSE notification, the first board examinations for Class 10 will begin in February 2025, while the second board exams are scheduled for May 2026. The sports examination for Class 10 students will be held during the second board exams to ensure that students participating in sports events are not disadvantaged.
The Board has stated that it will not conduct a separate sports exam after the first or second board examinations. Students must prepare to take their sports-related exams in May 2026 itself.
Mandatory LOC Submission for Sports Students
CBSE has made it clear that students participating in sports events must fill the List of Candidates (LOC) for the main examination mandatorily. The LOC for sports students will be completed alongside other students to confirm their eligibility for the second board examinations.
Special Provision for Sports Students
Sports students will be allowed to appear in the second board examinations for subjects whose exam dates coincide with their sports events or travel schedules. This ensures that students representing their schools or regions at national/international sports events are not penalized due to overlapping schedules.
However, if a sports student appears in the second board examination and is placed in the compartment category, the compartment exam will only be held the following year in February/March.
No Change in CBSE Class 12 Examination Scheme
CBSE has clarified that the scheme for Class 12 board exams remains unchanged. For Class 12 students whose journey or sports event clashes with their exam schedule, CBSE will re-conduct those exams after the first examinations are over.
