The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has unveiled the Beta Version of “Adi Sanskriti”, a pioneering digital learning platform dedicated to preserving tribal artforms, promoting livelihoods, and empowering tribal communities across India. This initiative represents a significant step toward cultural preservation, education, and economic empowerment under the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
KEY FEATURES OF ADI SANSKRITI
The Adi Sanskriti platform integrates three core components to provide a holistic ecosystem for tribal communities:
Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Digital Tribal Art Academy): This online academy offers over 45 courses designed to train tribal artists in traditional and contemporary art forms. Through digital learning modules, participants can enhance their skills, gain certification, and access knowledge resources that help in professional development.
Adi Sampada (Tribal Cultural Repository): Serving as a digital archive, Adi Sampada houses 5,000+ tribal cultural assets, including art, craft, music, dance, folklore, and rituals. The repository ensures that India’s rich tribal heritage is preserved digitally and made accessible to researchers, educators, and enthusiasts nationwide.
Adi Haat (Online Marketplace): Linked with TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India), Adi Haat provides tribal artisans with a direct online platform to sell their products, including handicrafts, handlooms, and indigenous art. This component promotes tribal entrepreneurship, generates income, and helps sustain traditional livelihoods.
Collaboration with State Tribal Research Institutes
The platform has been developed in collaboration with State Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), ensuring authentic representation of tribal culture and knowledge. The partnership facilitates research-driven content, curriculum development, and cultural documentation, strengthening the connection between traditional wisdom and modern technology.
Objectives of Adi Sanskriti
The Adi Sanskriti digital platform aims to:
- Preserve tribal heritage through digitization of cultural assets.
- Enable livelihoods for tribal artisans via online marketing and sales.
- Empower tribal communities through educational courses and skill development.
- Promote research and innovation in tribal arts, crafts, and cultural practices.
- Support India’s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047 by integrating culture, education, and economic growth.
Significance of the Initiative
With tribal communities often residing in remote regions, access to education and markets has historically been limited. Adi Sanskriti bridges this gap by leveraging digital tools, providing global exposure, and ensuring sustainable cultural and economic development. By empowering tribal artists and entrepreneurs, the platform contributes to inclusive growth and social equity.
How to Access Adi Sanskriti
The Beta Version of Adi Sanskriti is available online for interested participants, researchers, and enthusiasts. Users can explore courses under Adi Vishwavidyalaya, browse the cultural repository in Adi Sampada, and purchase authentic tribal products via Adi Haat.
The launch of Adi Sanskriti marks a transformative step in digital cultural preservation and tribal empowerment. By integrating education, heritage preservation, and economic opportunities, this platform is poised to become a model for inclusive digital initiatives in India. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to empowering tribal communities and safeguarding India’s indigenous art and culture for future generations.
