India’s shooting contingent continues to shine at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship 2025, being held at Shymkent Shooting Plaza, Shymkent, Kazakhstan (August 16–30, 2025). Young shooting sensation Rashmika Sahgal created history by winning the gold medal in the Junior Women’s 10m Air Pistol event with a stellar performance.
Rashmika clinched the top spot with a final score of 241.9 points, finishing 4.3 points ahead of Korea’s Han Seunghyun, who settled for the silver medal. This victory marked India’s third individual gold medal on the second day of the championship, reinforcing the nation’s dominance in shooting sports at the continental level.
Rashmika Sahgal’s Journey to Gold
The 17-year-old shooter from India displayed nerves of steel throughout the event. In the qualification round, Rashmika scored 582 points, comfortably earning her place in the finals. Manu Bhaker Adds Bronze for India
India’s star shooter and Olympic medal hope, Manu Bhaker, also showcased her talent in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event. She won the bronze medal with a score of 219.7, further boosting India’s medal tally.
In the team event, Manu (583), along with Palak (573)—the defending Asian Games champion—and Suruchi Phogat (574), secured the team bronze medal in women’s air pistol, once again proving India’s depth in shooting talent.
