The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially released the tentative date sheet for the December 2025 Term-End Examinations (TEE). The examinations for both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes are scheduled to be conducted from December 1, 2025, to January 8, 2026. IGNOU will hold the exams in two daily sessions – the morning shift from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and the afternoon shift from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Tentative Date Sheet and Important Instructions
IGNOU has clarified that the published December 2025 TEE date sheet is tentative and subject to changes. The portal for online submission of examination forms will open shortly, giving students adequate time to register. Students are advised to ensure the following before appearing for exams:
- Their course registrations are valid.
- All assignments have been submitted within the prescribed deadlines.
- The minimum duration of study for each course has been completed.
Importantly, IGNOU has stated that no requests for changes in exam dates will be entertained. This rule applies even in cases where:
- Courses fall within the same group,
- Backlog courses overlap with current courses,
- Courses belong to different programmes or specialisations.
Students are therefore urged to plan their exam schedule carefully.
Exam Pattern and Language Options
The December 2025 IGNOU Term-End Exam will feature different patterns depending on the programme.
- Programmes such as BDP, BCA, BSW, CLIS, CBS, and all CBCS-based degree programmes will follow objective-type question papers with OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets.
- Courses like BNS041 and BNS042 will have descriptive exams.
To ensure inclusivity, students in programmes like CRD, PGDRD, and MARD will be allowed to write exams in Bengali, giving learners the flexibility to appear in their preferred language.
Course Groupings and Exam Schedule
The tentative IGNOU date sheet also details the grouping of courses under ODL, CBCS, and FYUP schemes. All courses within a group will be examined on the same date and time. Students may choose subjects across different groups but can only select one course per group.
IGNOU has advised students to check the tentative TEE schedule carefully and report any discrepancies by August 25, 2025. This proactive step ensures a smooth conduct of examinations and helps prevent any scheduling conflicts.
