Amazon India has announced 500 new tech scholarships for girls from underprivileged backgrounds under its flagship Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) scholarship programme. The announcement was made on the graduation day of the first cohort of AFE scholars, marking a significant step towards bridging the gender gap in technology and empowering women in engineering.
Amazon Tech Scholarship 2025: Promoting Equal Opportunities
The Amazon scholarship programme supports female students from low-income families who aspire to pursue careers in technology. By offering financial aid, mentorship, and industry exposure, Amazon aims to create equal opportunities for women in STEM fields across India.
To implement this initiative, Amazon has partnered with the Foundation for Excellence (FFE), ensuring that scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and leadership potential.
Each Amazon Tech Scholar will receive:
- Financial assistance of ₹2 lakh over four years (₹50,000 annually).
- A laptop to aid in their studies.
- Access to specialised training through technical bootcamps.
- Paid internships at Amazon.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers to prepare them for industry roles.
Application for Amazon Tech Scholarship 2025
Applications for the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship 2025-29 cycle are now open at the official portal. The last date to apply is November 30, 2025.
While women from all engineering disciplines can apply, preference will be given to candidates from the following fields:
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Information Science
- Information Science and Engineering
- Information Technology
Impact of Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) Programme
Since its launch in 2022, the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship Programme has already awarded 1,700 scholarships to meritorious students from underprivileged families. Many of these scholars are first-generation college graduates from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Latur (Maharashtra) and Chaibasa (Jharkhand).
Speaking on the occasion, Prateek Agarwal, AFE Lead, said:
“Seeing these scholars – many of whom are first-generation graduates – transform into confident tech professionals demonstrates the impact of providing equal opportunities in education and career development.”
According to an official statement, over 80% of the first batch of AFE scholars have already secured job offers at Fortune 500 companies, with several of them joining Amazon’s engineering teams. During their journey, students also completed internships across seven different technical job roles, gaining valuable real-world experience.
