Delhi Government Extends CM SHRI Admission Test 2025 Deadline to August 22

Delhi Government Extends CM SHRI Admission Test 2025 Deadline to August 22

The Delhi government has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting online applications for the Chief Minister School for Holistic and Reimagined Innovation (CM SHRI) Admission Test 2025 for classes 6, 7, and 8. According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Tuesday, the new deadline is 11:59 pm on August 22, 2025, instead of the earlier date of August 15.

The decision to extend the deadline comes in response to the overwhelming number of applications and repeated requests from parents, students, and other stakeholders. “This extension will ensure that all interested candidates get adequate time to complete their registration process,” the DoE stated in the circular.

Along with the change in the application deadline, the examination date for the CM SHRI Admission Test 2025 has also been revised. Initially scheduled for August 30, the test will now be conducted on September 6, 2025.

CM SHRI Schools to Open in September

An official from the Delhi government confirmed that the inaugural CM SHRI Schools are likely to open in September 2025, aligning with the admission test timeline. The institutions are part of a major education initiative announced earlier this year to transform government schools into centres of high-quality, future-ready learning.

Modelled after the Centre’s PM SHRI Schools, the CM SHRI Schools will operate under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework and implement the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The initiative aims to blend traditional academic rigor with modern technology-based learning.

  • Smart classrooms with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) learning tools
  • Smartboards for interactive teaching
  • Biometric attendance systems to ensure accountability
  • Robotics laboratories to promote innovation and STEM-based learning

These facilities are designed to encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity among students, preparing them for careers in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Administrative Shift to CBSE

In a significant policy move, the Delhi government is phasing out the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE). Schools currently affiliated with DBSE will transition to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), ensuring standardisation and broader national recognition of academic credentials.

During her budget speech earlier this year, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta allocated ₹100 crore for setting up and operationalising CM SHRI Schools. This funding will be utilised for infrastructure development, technology integration, teacher training, and extracurricular programmes.

Application and Exam Process

Students aspiring to join CM SHRI Schools in the 2025–2026 academic year must clear the CM SHRI Admission Test. Applications can be submitted online through the official Directorate of Education portal until the extended deadline of August 22, 2025.

The government has urged parents and students to take advantage of the additional time to ensure their applications are submitted correctly and on time, for more details CLICK HERE
