The next installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme will be released on August 2, 2025, during a special event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi. In preparation, a high-level meeting was chaired by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to ensure the smooth execution of the programme and maximum outreach to farmers across India.
The meeting was attended virtually by Directors, Vice Chancellors, and heads of 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), representatives from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and various agricultural universities. Shri Chouhan directed officials to connect the PM-Kisan programme from the national to the grassroots level, calling for it to be organised as a nationwide campaign to celebrate the government’s commitment to farmers.
He emphasised that under the leadership of PM Modi, ₹6,000 is annually transferred to each eligible farmer in three equal installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This ensures transparency and timely assistance. The minister urged KVKs to play a proactive role in mobilisation, preparation, and awareness generation for the event, stating that it should be celebrated as both a festival and a mission.
Shri Chouhan encouraged farmers to actively participate in the August 2 event, not only to receive the benefits of the 20th installment but also to become more aware of ongoing and upcoming agricultural development schemes. The upcoming installment will disburse ₹20,500 crore to nearly 9.7 crore farmers, reaffirming the government’s unwavering support to the agrarian community.
Since its inception in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has transformed rural agricultural support mechanisms, transferring ₹3.69 lakh crore to farmers’ bank accounts over 19 installments. This milestone programme has become a lifeline for marginal and small-scale farmers, ensuring income stability and boosting rural development.
The government’s commitment to farmer welfare and empowerment was reiterated through this initiative, showcasing how direct financial support, robust institutional coordination, and community engagement can converge to uplift Indian agriculture, for more details CLICK HERE
