The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admissions into MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and other postgraduate science programs offered by IITs and other participating institutes.

As per the official circular released by IIT Bombay, the online application process will commence on September 5, 2025, through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the official website and fill out their application forms within the stipulated time frame.

Once registered, candidates will be able to download and print their admit cards starting January 5, 2026, which is a crucial document to be carried to the examination center. The JAM 2026 examination is scheduled for February 15, 2026, and will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format across multiple cities in India.

The results of JAM 2026 will be announced on March 20, 2026, after which candidates will be able to participate in the admission process, including counseling and seat allocation, at various IITs and other institutions.

JAM plays a pivotal role in offering a gateway for science graduates to pursue higher education and research careers. The exam tests candidates on subjects such as Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics.

Eligibility criteria require candidates to have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum percentage (depending on category and subject). Final-year students can also apply, provided they submit proof of qualification by the deadline set by the admitting institute.
