On the occasion of its 109th Founder’s Day, Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) launched a nationwide cybersecurity awareness initiative to promote safe and responsible digital banking practices across India. The campaign aims to empower individuals of all age groups with essential knowledge about cyber threats, fraud prevention, and secure online transactions.
The initiative was formally flagged off by RBI Deputy Governor J. Swaminathan through a remote inauguration ceremony, signaling institutional support and underlining the growing importance of cybersecurity in India’s fast-evolving financial landscape. Swaminathan lauded KVB’s effort, emphasizing the need for widespread awareness in an era of rapid digitization and increasing cybercrime.
The cybersecurity campaign will be multi-faceted, rolled out through mass media platforms, offline outreach, and educational workshops. It is designed to reach diverse segments of society — from school and college students to working professionals and senior citizens. Through this inclusive approach, KVB aims to foster a culture of digital literacy, data privacy, and safe banking behavior.
Offline efforts will include interactive sessions and on-ground workshops conducted in collaboration with educational institutions, community centers, and corporate offices. These sessions will focus on real-life case studies, phishing awareness, password hygiene, secure use of banking apps, and recognizing common scams. For senior citizens, the bank plans simplified modules to help them navigate digital platforms securely.
KVB’s initiative reflects its deep-rooted legacy of trust and integrity, while embracing a forward-looking vision for secure banking in the digital age. As cyber risks become more sophisticated, such proactive educational programs are vital in equipping the public with preventive tools and reducing incidents of online fraud.
“This campaign is not just a celebration of our past, but an investment in the future,” said a KVB spokesperson. “We are committed to safeguarding the interests of every customer, ensuring that digital innovation is always matched with digital responsibility.”
As banking becomes increasingly app-based and technology-driven, KVB’s awareness drive is a timely intervention that reinforces its role as a custodian of safe banking practices, blending its 109-year heritage with modern security imperatives. The campaign is expected to reach millions across India, creating a robust foundation for a secure and digitally empowered society.
