Ministry of Textiles Announces Sant Kabir and National Handloom Awards 2024

The Ministry of Textiles announce the recipients of the Sant Kabir Handloom Award and National Handloom Awards for 2024, honouring the exceptional talent, innovation, and dedication of individuals and organizations in India’s vibrant handloom sector. These prestigious awards fall under the Handloom Marketing Assistance (HMA) component of the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting India’s handloom heritage.

This year, a total of 24 awardees will be felicitated, including 5 Sant Kabir Awards and 19 National Handloom Awards. The awards will be presented by the Hon’ble President of India during the 11th National Handloom Day celebrations, scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event will also witness the presence of Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, alongside Members of Parliament, industry leaders, designers, exporters, senior officials, students, and over 500 weavers from all corners of the country.

SANT KABIR HANDLOOM AWARD

This prestigious award recognizes master weavers who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and sustainability of the handloom sector. It is awarded to individuals with a history of excellence, such as previous recipients of state or national awards, national merit certificates, or those who have demonstrated extraordinary skill and leadership in promoting traditional weaving, preserving cultural heritage, and uplifting their communities.

Award Includes: Cash Prize: ₹3.5 lakh, Gold Coin (mounted), Tamrapatra (certificate), Shawl, Certificate of Recognition

NATIONAL HANDLOOM AWARD

The National Handloom Award honours weavers for exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and commitment to the handloom tradition. It aims to encourage and inspire artisans across the country to pursue excellence in their craft and contribute to the sector’s sustainable development.
