In a landmark development for India’s higher education and technology sectors, BITS Pilani announced on July 14, 2025, that it will establish the country’s first ‘AI Plus Campus’ in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. With an investment of ₹1,000 crore, this cutting-edge educational hub is set to redefine the future of advanced learning and technological innovation in India. Admissions to the new campus are expected to commence in 2027.
The proposed AI Plus Campus will specialize in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Robotics, and other emerging fields, while also integrating sustainability principles with a strong focus on green energy. The curriculum will be designed to provide global exposure to students, nurturing talent that is both locally grounded and globally competitive. The initiative aims to produce future-ready professionals equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge and technological expertise.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and BITS Chancellor Kumar Mangalam Birla were present at the announcement and praised the vision behind the project. CM Naidu hailed the campus as a transformative step towards positioning Andhra Pradesh as an educational and innovation hub, while Kumar Mangalam Birla emphasized BITS’ commitment to fostering a new era of education that meets global standards and prepares youth for the AI-driven future.
The design of the Amaravati campus will be a unique fusion of India’s architectural heritage and contemporary infrastructure. It aims to create an inspiring learning environment that reflects both tradition and innovation. The eco-friendly layout will incorporate smart buildings, solar energy systems, and sustainable water management practices, aligning with the vision of a green and smart campus.
This AI Plus Campus is part of BITS Pilani’s broader expansion strategy, Project Vistar, which seeks to extend the institute’s presence through world-class campuses and enhanced academic offerings.
