H.H Dalai Lama-Sasakawa Scholarship 2025-26 Applications Open

The H.H Dalai Lama-Sasakawa Scholarship 2025-26, offered by the Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (SILF), is a prestigious initiative that aims to support the educational aspirations of students living in self-settled leprosy colonies. It provides financial assistance to deserving youth from ten Indian states: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Telangana.

OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

The primary goal of the scholarship is to enable access to professional education for students affected by leprosy, either directly or through their families. SILF strives to remove financial barriers by offering comprehensive support, thereby empowering youth to build a better future.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To apply for the H.H Dalai Lama-Sasakawa Scholarship 2025-26, applicants must:

• Be at least 17 years of age
• Be a domicile of one of the listed states
• Have at least one parent affected by leprosy
• Be residing in a self-settled leprosy colony
• Have completed Class 12 or a bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2024-25
• Be enrolled in a professional course at a government-recognised institution

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Selected candidates will receive financial assistance to cover:

• Tuition fees
• Admission fees
• Mess charges
• Boarding/hostel expenses

The funds will be disbursed directly to the institution where the candidate is enrolled.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must submit the following:

• Passport-size photographs
• Proof of age (Birth certificate or equivalent)
• Academic certificates (Class 10, 12, and graduation if applicable)
• Leprosy certificate of parent(s)
• Provisional admission letter or names of three colleges applied to
• Reference letter from colony leader certifying residency and family background
• Proof of admission in a recognised institution

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND SELECTION

• Deadline to apply: 15^th July 2025
• Candidates will be ranked based on academic merit from their last examination.
• The top 20 applicants will be awarded the scholarship by the selection committee.
