Maharashtra Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) 2025 Schedule released

Maharashtra Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) 2025 Schedule released

The Maharashtra government has announced that the Foundation Test under the Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) will be conducted for students of Classes 2 to 8 from 6th to 8th August 2025. The test will be held across government and private-aided schools, focusing on three core subjects — first language, mathematics, and English.

This assessment initiative is part of the broader Samagra Shiksha Project, as outlined in a Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting held in May 2025. Under this framework, three key evaluations have been planned for the academic year 2025–26: the Foundation Test, Comprehensive Assessment Test 1, and Comprehensive Assessment Test 2.

In an official statement, the government emphasized that these assessments are not comparable to Class 10 and 12 board exams and are designed to support and improve the teaching-learning process. Teachers will use the results to determine if students have achieved the expected learning outcomes and adjust their teaching methods accordingly. The assessments aim to motivate teachers to identify learning gaps and implement necessary changes to enhance student performance.

The PAT framework also plays a crucial role in supporting Maharashtra’s objectives under the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan (formerly known as the National Achievement Survey – NAS). It seeks to boost foundational learning and track student progress, especially for those lagging behind. These evaluations help schools and teachers design customized action plans to elevate academic standards.

The Foundation Test will be administered in a single medium and will be based on the curriculum of the previous academic year, focusing on learning outcomes and foundational skills. The goal is to ensure continuity in education and address learning losses, if any.
