The National Board of Examination in Rehabilitation (NBER), under the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), has officially invited online applications for admissions into various Certificate and Diploma level courses in Special Education and Disability Rehabilitation for the academic year 2025. These merit-based admissions are offered through a centralized online e-counselling system only, with no entrance examination being conducted. The programs are available through RCI-approved institutions and university departments across India.
COURSES OFFERED:
The admission process covers a wide range of professional training courses including:
- Special Education (D.Ed.Spl.Ed.)
- Disability Rehabilitation such as Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (D.H.L.S.), Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics (D.P.O.), Diploma in Rehabilitation Therapy (D.R.T.), Diploma in Hearing Aid Ear Mould Technology (D.H.A.E.M.T.), and others including visual impairment and intellectual disability programs.
- Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation (DTISL) — specifically for deaf candidates.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
D.Ed.Spl.Ed.: Applicants must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in any stream.
Disability Rehabilitation Courses: Candidates should have completed 10+2 with PCM or PCB subjects or equivalent, securing at least 50% marks.
DTISL Course: Reserved for deaf candidates only, requiring 10+2 with at least 45% marks, a valid disability certificate (Deaf), and demonstrated proficiency in Indian Sign Language (ISL).
Certain courses such as D.E.C.S.E., D.I.S.L.I., C.C.R.T., C.B.S., and C.C.C.G. have additional eligibility conditions which must be met.
INCLUSIVE POLICY:
In a move to encourage inclusion and awareness, first-blood relatives (parents or siblings) of persons with disabilities (PwDs) will be given relaxation in eligibility marks:
- 5 marks relaxation for relatives of persons with 50% disability
- 10 marks relaxation for relatives of persons with 100% disability
