DSERT, Karnataka: Class 4 to 10 Lesson Based Assessment Material 2025 - 26 released

The Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT), Karnataka, has officially released the Lesson-Based Assessment Material for the academic year 2025–26. This crucial educational resource covers all subjects from Class 4 to Class 10, aiming to strengthen the teaching-learning process through a structured and competency-based assessment approach. The release of this material marks a significant step towards aligning classroom evaluation with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes continuous and comprehensive evaluation focused on learning outcomes.

The Lesson-Based Assessment Material is designed to help both teachers and students monitor academic progress effectively. The assessments are mapped to each lesson in the Karnataka State Board syllabus and cover core subjects like Kannada, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, along with languages such as Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit where applicable. Each assessment item is curated to test key learning indicators and skills, including conceptual understanding, application, analysis, and critical thinking.

For teachers, the material serves as a ready-to-use toolkit for conducting formative assessments in the classroom. It enables educators to identify learning gaps early and provide necessary remediation. For students, it offers practice and reinforcement of concepts taught in each lesson, fostering regular engagement and reducing exam stress. These assessments are also valuable for Headmasters, Block Resource Persons (BRPs), and Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) for academic supervision and planning.

Importantly, the material supports Samagra Shiksha’s goals of improving learning outcomes and ensuring grade-appropriate competencies for all learners. DSERT has made the content available in both print and digital formats, ensuring accessibility to government, aided, and unaided school teachers across the state. Schools are encouraged to integrate the material with their academic calendar and review cycles.

Educational stakeholders, including District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), have been advised to orient teachers on using these materials effectively. With this initiative, DSERT aims to standardize assessment practices across Karnataka and promote a shift from rote memorization to understanding-based learning.

The Lesson-Based Assessment Material 2025–26 is now available for download on the official DSERT Karnataka website. Teachers, school administrators, and parents are urged to utilize this resource to help build a stronger academic foundation for students and support the state’s mission of quality education for all.
