The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has officially opened applications for its Postgraduate (PG) programmes for the academic year 2025–26. A Deemed to be University under the Department of Space, Government of India, IIST is India’s premier institute specializing in education and research in space science and technology. PROGRAMMES AND ELIGIBILITY
IIST offers a range of M.Tech. and M.Sc. programmes tailored to the evolving demands of the space sector. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Age Limit: Candidates should be born on or after 1 October 1991 (General/EWS/OBC-NCL) and 1 October 1986 (SC/ST/PD).
Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology or a Master’s degree in science with at least 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) for General/EWS/OBC-NCL, and 55% marks (6.0 CGPA) for SC/ST/PD candidates.
Exams
- M.Tech. applicants must have a valid GATE score from 2023, 2024, or 2025.
- M.Sc. in Astronomy and Astrophysics candidates must have qualified in JEST 2023/2024 or CSIR-UGC NET (June/Dec 2023).
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
The application fee is ₹600 for male candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC-NCL categories and ₹300 for female candidates and all SC/ST/PD candidates. Selection is based on valid entrance exam scores, with some programs requiring online interviews. A final merit list will be published program-wise.
