The medium of instruction in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and thereafter English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science, the students of Students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya appear for board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), At present there are, 649 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas functional in 27 States and 8 Union Territories,
The education in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Completely free including boarding & lodging, uniform and textbooks, a sum of Rs. 600 per month is collected only from the students of Classes IX to XII towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi
ELIGIBLITY
The Student studying Class V in a Government / Government aided or other recognized schools and from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection test

EXAM PATTERN
The selection test will be of 2 hour duration and consist of 3 sections with only objective type questions. There are total 80 Questions for 100 Marks, 1.25 marks will be given for every correct answer and No Negative Marking to be done

The JNV Selection Test for admission to Class 6 was conducted in two phases- Phase I was conducted on 4th November 2023 and Phase II was conducted on20th January 2024. The selection test for admission to Class IX was conducted on 10th February 2024
