For the academic year 2023 – 24 the Children seeking admissions to LKG (Kinder Garden) must be 4 years old by 1st June, In this regard a circular been issued by the Samagra Shikshana, Department of School Education, Karnataka
As per the circular issued the age for admission to LKG being fixed 4 years by 1st June to ensure that the children will be 6 years old by 2025 – 26 when the new age criteria for admissions to 1st standard be implemented
Under the present admission criteria the children of age 5 years and 10 months were allowed for admission to 1s standard, however in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Right of Education (RTE), the new admission age criteria was released citing the age for admissions to 1st std from the academic year 2025 – 26 is fixed as 6 years instead of 5 years and 10 months,
Initially the new age criteria for admissions to 1st std was about to be implemented in 2023 but was put forward due to protest from parents and schools, for more details CLICK HERE
