The VAIBHAV (Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik) Fellowship 2025 is a prestigious initiative launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. This program is designed to foster a strong collaborative research ecosystem between Indian academic/research institutions and Indian-origin scientists residing abroad.
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
The primary aim of the fellowship is to connect Non-Resident Indian (NRI) scientists, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) with Indian universities, colleges, and government-funded research organizations. It allows Indian-origin researchers based abroad to contribute to India’s scientific advancement by collaborating on ongoing or emerging research projects.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the VAIBHAV Fellowship 2025, an applicant must hold a degree in Ph.D., M.D., M.S., or M.Tech. Be an NRI, PIO, or OCI currently engaged in active research.
Have a minimum of five years of research/academic experience in a foreign institute or university. Not be currently enrolled as a Ph.D. scholar or Post-doctoral fellow.
Note: Experience during Ph.D. and post-doctoral fellowship is not considered towards the five-year minimum experience.
FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS
Selected fellows will receive:
- A monthly fellowship amount of ₹4,00,000 for 1 to 2 months per year, for up to 3 years.
- Round-trip business class airfare from their parent institute abroad to the host institute in India, once per year.
- Accommodation allowance of up to ₹7,500 per day.
- A contingency grant of ₹1,00,000 for research-related expenses in India.
- Domestic travel support (economy class) to visit up to two Indian academic or research institutions annually for academic collaboration.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must submit Detailed biodata (maximum 7 pages), List of recent publications (past 3 years), Highest qualification certificate, Experience certificates, copy of passport, Copy of OCI/PIO Card or valid Work Visa
APPLICATION DEADLINE AND SELECTION
The last date to apply is 30th May 2025. The selection will be based strictly on the fulfillment of eligibility criteria and the relevance of the proposed research collaboration.
