University Grants Commission (UGC)

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the draft Guidelines for Internship / Research Internship for Under Graduate Students

In accordance with the NEP-2020, the UGC framed a new student-centric “Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes” (CCFUP) incorporating a flexible choice-based credit system, multiple entry and exit options, and a multidisciplinary approach.

The employability of graduates can be improved by developing practical experience and exposure with the required right kind of attitude for the workplace. The internship is one of the important apparatuses that help in improving these employability skills and can help in generating competency, capability, professional working skills, expertise, and confidence among the students for employability and developing interest/passion for research

As per the draft guidelines by UGC after the completion of 4th semester by the candidates for students who are pursuing a three-year undergraduate course, an internship of 60 to 120 hours will be made compulsory, While for students who will pursue a four year undergraduate degree, the internship will be made compulsory after the eighth semester. These internships will help students earn up to 12 credits, the internships will be of two types — one that aimed at employability and the other being aimed at developing an aptitude for research, for more details and download the draft guidelines CLICK HERE
