THE Asia University Rankings 2025

The Times Higher Education (THE) has released its prestigious Asia University Rankings 2025, showcasing the best-performing higher education institutions across the continent. With 853 universities from 35 countries and territories ranked, the list is one of the most comprehensive assessments of Asia’s academic landscape. The evaluation is based on key parameters like teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

HIGHLIGHTS

In this year’s edition, China dominates the top of the leaderboard, securing five of the top 10 positions, including first and second place. Universities from Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong also continue their strong presence in the top 10. Notably, Hong Kong has all six of its ranked universities placed in the top 50 for the first time since 2017, marking a significant achievement.

The 2025 rankings also welcomed four new entrants: Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Mongolia, and Syria, reflecting the growing educational participation across the continent.

INDIA’S PERFORMANCE: LEADING THE WAY

India has made significant strides in the rankings this year, with several universities securing spots in the top 200. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru leads the Indian charge with a THE ranking of 38 and an impressive overall score of 65.2, making it the highest-ranked Indian institution.

Following IISc is Anna University, which holds the 111th rank and an overall score of 52.3, showcasing its continued rise in academic reputation. At 131st position, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore has secured a score of 49.4, establishing itself as a top contender among newer IITs.
