The Rhodes Trust has officially opened applications for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship for India 2026, offering a life-changing opportunity for exceptional Indian students to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. The deadline for applications is 23rd July 2025, and all submissions must be completed online. Notably, there is no application fee for this globally renowned scholarship.

Each year, six Indian scholars are selected through a highly competitive process to receive full financial support for two to three years of study at Oxford, depending on the academic programme they choose. Recognized as the oldest international scholarship programme in the world, the Rhodes Scholarship seeks outstanding individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, integrity, and a commitment to service.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND AGE LIMIT

Applicants must typically be between 18 and 23 years of age, although those up to 27 years may be considered under specific circumstances. Candidates must also meet the academic qualifications required for admission to Oxford and must hold Indian citizenship (PIO/OCI holders are not eligible).

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must upload the following documents:

  • Birth certificate or valid Indian passport
  • Indian passport or equivalent proof of Indian citizenship
  • University/college academic transcript
  • 10th and 12th standard marksheets (or equivalents)
  • For those not currently studying in India:
    • Proof of at least four years of formal study in India in the last 10 years
    • Proof of completing 10th or 12th grade in India
  • Completed CV section within the application form (including academics, leadership roles, community service, and awards)
  • A recent headshot photograph

APPLICATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD

It’s important to note that being selected as a Rhodes Scholar is not an automatic admission to the University of Oxford. Selected scholars must apply separately to the university, but the Rhodes House team will assist with the Oxford application process. References used in the scholarship application may be reused where appropriate.
