RBI to withdraw Rs 2000 currency notes from circulation

From circulation the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to withdrew ₹ 2,000 currency notes, However the ₹2,000 currency notes will continue to be legal tender till 30th September 2023

As per the notification released by the Reserve Bank of India  in pursuance of the Clean Note Policy of the Reserve Bank of India, it has been decided to withdraw the ₹2,000 currency notes from circulation. The ₹2,000 currency notes will continue to be legal tender till 30th September 2023. To complete the exercise in a time-bound manner and to provide adequate time to the members of public, all banks shall provide deposit and /or exchange facility for ₹2,000 currency notes until 30th September 2023

It stated in order to ensure operational convenience to the public and to avoid disruption of regular activities of bank branches, exchange of ₹2,000 currency notes into currency notes of other denominations can be made up to a limit of ₹20,000 at a time at any bank starting from 23rd May 2023, In November 2016 Rs 2,000 denomination currency note was introduced, for more details CLICK HERE
