The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi—an apex institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India—has announced admissions for its Ph.D. (Full-Time) and Ph.D. (Part-Time) programs for the academic session 2025-26. NIEPA, renowned for its pioneering work in educational policy, planning, and administration, offers research opportunities from an interdisciplinary social science perspective.
PROGRAMS OFFERED
Ph.D. (Full-Time) & Ph.D. (Part-Time)
These programs are designed to build scholarly capacity in areas crucial to the education sector, encouraging research that informs policymaking, institutional governance, and strategic planning.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
For Full-Time Ph.D
Master’s degree in Social Sciences or allied disciplines with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD). UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates are also eligible.
Applicants with a 4-year undergraduate degree must have scored minimum 75%. MPhil degree holders with at least 55% marks can also apply.
For Part-Time Ph.D
Must be employed professionals who can produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer confirming availability of time for research. Mandatory completion of one-year full-time coursework even for part-time scholars.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Initial shortlisting of applications based on eligibility; A written test scheduled for 8th June 2025.
Interview/Viva-Voce for shortlisted candidates, Final selection is based on 70% weightage to the written test and 30% to the interview.
