National School of Drama (NSD) Dramatic Arts admissions 2025 Applications Open

The National School of Drama (NSD), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has announced admissions for its prestigious Three-Year Diploma and One-Year Certificate Courses in Dramatic Arts for the academic session 2025–26/2025–28. Recognized as one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world,

NSD invites passionate theatre aspirants to apply online for courses at its main campus in New Delhi and regional centres across India.

COURSES OFFERED

NSD provides specialized programs tailored to different aspects of theatre and performance, including:

• Diploma in Dramatic Arts (3-Year Course) – New Delhi Campus
• Certificate in Dramatic Arts (1-Year)
• Certificate in Acting (1-Year)
• Certificate in Indian Classical Theatre (1-Year)
• Certificate in Theatre-in-Education (1-Year)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (ALL COURSES)

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university in India or abroad. Theatre experience is also mandatory:

• For the Three-Year Diploma, a minimum of six theatre productions is required.
• For the One-Year Certificate Courses, a minimum of four theatre productions is required.
• Candidates must submit supporting documents such as certificates, brochures, leaflets, or press clippings.
• Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years as of 1st July 2025.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Admission to all courses will be based on a candidate’s performance, creativity, and readiness for professional theatre training. The process includes:

1. Online Application Submission
2. Preliminary Test/Audition (NSD Joint Entrance Examination 2025) at designated centres
3. Final Workshop & Interview – conducted at NSD Delhi for Diploma applicants and at respective regional centres for Certificate applicants.

STIPEND AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

To support aspiring artists, NSD offers generous financial aid:

• Diploma Students (NSD Delhi): ₹8,500/month scholarship + ₹1,500/month for travel/medical = ₹10,000/month
• Certificate Course Students (Regional Centres): ₹6,000/month scholarship + ₹1,000/month travel/medical = ₹7,000/month
