KVPY is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences started in 1999, that initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India o attract and motivate students to pursue basic science courses and take up research in Science, ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. 

For the students studying in 1st year program in basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs.5,000/- Rs.7000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum)

KVPY is Granted in 3 Streams 

• Stream SA
• Stream SX
• Stream SB

Eligibility for Stream SA:-Students who have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Board examination and got enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020-21 are eligible to appear for the aptitude Test.

The fellowship will be activated under this stream will be activated only if the selected students join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard /(+2) Board Examination.

During the interim period of one year they will be invited for National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be bared by KVPY.

Eligibility for Stream SX : Students who have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination and are enrolled in XII Standard / (+2) (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020–21 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) for the session 2021–22 during the academic year are eligible to appear for the aptitude test.

The Fellowship will be activated only if the selected students  join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination

Eligibility for Stream SB : Students who have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST&PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects both in the XII Standard / (+2) Board Examination and 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S and enrolled in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2020–21 are eligible to appear for the aptitude Test.

Empowerment Initiatives 

For students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe:– A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams as stated above will be reserved

For Persons With Disabilities:- A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be reserved for deserving Persons With Disabilities-Physically and Visually challenged students.

FELLOWSHIP

Summer Programme 

For the Renewal of Scholarships : Participation and satisfactory performance in the summer programme/Project each year from the second year (B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat /Integrated M.Sc./Integrated M.S.) onwards in an academic Institution of National or International repute or a DSIR approved research labs (in case of private lab or institutions) is mandatory 

SELECTION PROCEDURE : Scholarship allotted this year solely on Aptitude test in Computer online Mode (No Interviews) that will be conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 31st January 2021, Candidates who had applied can download the admit card in the 2nd Second Week of January 2021, Question type will be objective type (MCQs) and there will be negative marking, Questions will be on Physics, Chemistry,Mathematics and Biology which have to be answered within 3 hours

EXAM Centre Guidelines

Candidates should attend at the examination center at least an hour before the commencement of the test

The Room numbers will be displayed at the Exam center

Calculators or any electronic devices not allowed, However virtual calculators will be made available on computer Screen
