Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak Dance under the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, has announced the opening of admissions for its Kathak Dance and Music training courses for the academic session 2025–26. Aspiring students with a passion for Indian classical dance and music are invited to apply between 8th June and 25th June 2025.
Kathak Kendra is one of India’s most prestigious institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting Kathak, one of the eight major classical dance forms of India. The institute offers a variety of structured training programs that combine rigorous practical instruction with a deep understanding of the cultural and historical aspects of Kathak.
COURSES OFFERED
Kathak Kendra offers training through the following structured courses:
Foundation Course – For beginners with no formal training.
Diploma (Pass Course) – For students who have completed basic Kathak training.
Diploma (Hons.)/Advanced Course – For those seeking professional-level expertise.
Post Diploma Course – A highly specialized training course for advanced learners.
Tabla Accompaniment Course – For students interested in learning percussion with Kathak.
Vocal Music Course (Supportive) – To complement Kathak training through classical music.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the age and educational qualifications prescribed for each course, For Foundation Courses, candidates must be between 10 to 13 years of age as on 1st July 2025.
Higher-level courses require candidates to have prior formal training in Kathak and successful completion of previous course levels from recognized institutions.
Admissions will be based on auditions/interviews conducted by Kathak Kendra’s expert panel.

- The application window is open from 8th June to 25th June 2025.
- The application fee is ₹200, payable online or via demand draft, as mentioned in the prospectus.
Interested candidates must submit the application form, recent photographs, and academic and age proof documents along with any prior training certificates, if applicable.
