The Karnataka School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council has extended again the last date to submit the applications for the NMMS (National Merit Cum Means Scholarship) Exam 2024 – 25,

The Karnataka School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council has released the notification of NMMS (National Merit Cum Means Scholarship) Exam 2024 – 25, As per the notification released the online applications can be submitted from 19th August 2024, Last date to submit online application is 5th September 2024, Examination is scheduled to be held on 8th December 2024
With an objective to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the society a Centrally sponsored scholarship scheme NMMS (National Merit Cum Means Scholarship) is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development,
It aims to encourages disadvantaged students to continue their studies at the secondary level by offering a scholarship amount of INR 12,000 per annum @ Rs. 1000 per month. Under this scheme, 100,000 scholarships are awarded to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum from all sources.
ELIGIBILITY
To appear for NMMS test the students shall have minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination (Relax-able of 5% for SC / ST Students) and he should be studying as regular student in a Government or Aided or local body school
For the students studying as regular students in class IX in a Government, Government-aided and local body schools the Scholarship which will be renewed on regular basis for classes X, XI and XII, it will be awarded for a Maximum period of 4 years, To get NMMS Scholarship in higher secondary school to be continued, the students must score at least 60% marks in class 10 board exam,
NOTE :
The students who are studying in NVS, KVS, Sainik schools and private (Unaided) schools are not eligible to apply for NMMS
No scholarship shall be available for studies abroad for any course
No claim for scholarship arrears will be entertained after the expiry of 12 months of the academic session
In case any awardee leaves the course of study within one month of joining or Admission in School then no scholarship shall be paidÂ
No scholarship at Higher Education level will be given for students studying diploma/certificate level courses after 10th std
SELECTION PROCEDURE
For the Selection of Students to award Scholarship under NMMS a separate Examination will be conduced by states and Union territories to select the Meritorious students that contains 2 papers (MAT & SAT)
EXAM PATTERN
The State Level Examination may consist of two papers : Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Mental Ability Test
It consist of 90 multiple choice questions which test the verbal and non verbal meta cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test are based on topics like analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure and other
Scholastic Aptitude Test
It consists of 90 multiple choice questions from Subjects like science, social studies and mathematics which the students have learned in 7th and 8th Standard
DURATION OF EXAMÂ
The Duration of exam is 90 minutes for Each paper and Students with disabilities will be given extra time as applicableÂ
DECLARATION OF RESULTS
To Qualify for Selection to NMMS the students must pass both the tests MAT and SAT with at least 40 % marks in aggregate taken in both the tests. The SC/ST students must get pass with aggregate of 32% in both the subjects
At the time of selection for the award of scholarship the student must have scored at least 55% mark in Class VIII examination, 5 % relaxation for SC/ST students is allowed
The selected students should fulfill all the criteria specified in the Scholarship Scheme
PROCEDURE TO APPLYÂ
The students who are eligible s for NMMS scheme can apply online, The application fees to be paid by the General Category Students while submitting application is Rs 20 and Reserved Category is Rs 10
DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP
A student can get only one Scholarship under any scheme
The awardees should have bank account preferably in SBI, or any public sector bank or any scheduled bank which has core banking facility
The awardees should get minimum of 55% marks in Class IX and XI and 60% in Class X for continuance of scholarship (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) in next higher classes.
The scholarship amount of Rs 12,000 at Rs 1000 per month is paid to awardees at a time (One Payment)

As per the guidelines released the students studying class 8 in Government, Aided schools are eligible to apply, NMMS Exam consist of 2 papers – SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and MAT (Mental Ability Test) of 90 marks each,
