The Karnataka State Health and Family Welfare Department has issued the advisory on Influenza (Seasonal Flu)
As per the notification released Influenza (Seasonal Flu) is a contagious disease that can spread from person to person through droplets from a affected persons cough or sneeze or through droplets on hands and surfaces, the self limiting infection lasts for 5 to 7 days with minimal morbidity and mortality, the Influenza (Seasonal Flu) can attack the peoples of all ages, more commonly to the children below 15 years and adults above 65 years
Given the widespread cases of Influenza (Seasonal Flu) the Karnataka state health department issued a advisory mandating healthcare workers in both private and public health centres to wear face masks, as per the advisory issued the health workers staff working in high risk areas like ICUs and isolation wards of hospitals should take the flu vaccine
District Health Officers (DHOs) are informed to ensure that sufficient doses of the antiviral tablet Oseltamivir along with PPE kits for healthcare workers is available in all health facilities, for more details CLICK HERE
