The Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed to be University, Dehradun, a premier institution under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), has announced admissions to its Ph.D. Programme in Forestry for the academic session beginning in March 2025. Candidates holding a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines are eligible to apply.
The University welcomes applications from both candidates with fellowships and those without. Applicants who have qualified national-level examinations such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, CEED, or equivalent are exempted from appearing in the entrance test. However, candidates who have not cleared such examinations will be required to qualify through the Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by FRI Deemed to be University.
The entrance examination will be held in offline mode (pen and paper format) and is scheduled for 27th July 2025. It will assess the candidate’s aptitude for research and understanding of forestry and allied subjects.
Prospective applicants must submit a duly filled application form along with a non-refundable application fee of ₹1,500/-. The fee should be remitted via a bank draft drawn in favor of the Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, Dehradun. The last date for submission of the application form is 31st May 2025. Incomplete forms or applications received after the deadline will not be entertained.
