The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has announced an extension in the application deadline for its prestigious Film Appreciation Course (Mid-Year 2025), now scheduled from 23rd June to 11th July 2025 in Pune. The revised last date for submitting applications is 15th June 2025, giving aspiring cinephiles, educators, and media professionals more time to apply.
Jointly conducted by FTII and the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) through the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), this three-week intensive, full-time course aims to foster a deeper understanding of cinema as an art form, cultural expression, and medium of communication. With classes held Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM, including film screenings, the course promises a rich educational experience.
The course is tailored for a wide spectrum of participants including educators, researchers, media practitioners, film society organizers, government officials working with films, and serious film enthusiasts. It will cover a wide range of themes such as the theory and history of cinema, narrative techniques, mise-en-scène, genre studies, and image-sound aesthetics, along with a brief overview of documentary filmmaking. Discussions will also address contemporary shifts in filmmaking, including independent cinema, digital streaming, and OTT platforms.
Participants will engage with a curated lineup of Indian and international film classics, short fiction, and documentaries, led by FTII’s core faculty and eminent guest lecturers.
