Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI), the specialized maritime training wing of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL)—a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways—invites applications for its prestigious Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course. Approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India, this fully residential program is designed in accordance with the latest STCW Convention guidelines issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), ensuring international-level standards in maritime education.

The GME program at METI spans 12 months and is conducted in English. It prepares engineering graduates for a dynamic career at sea by equipping them with the necessary technical and operational competencies for marine engineering roles on merchant vessels.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates must hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) from AICTE/UGC approved institutions in any of the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical stream combinations (such as Mechanical & Automation, Mechanical & Electronics, etc., with Mechanical as core)
  • Naval Architecture (with Naval Architecture as core, e.g., Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
  • Marine Engineering (from AICTE/UGC approved but not DGS-approved institutions)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Age Limit: Maximum of 28 years as of the course commencement date.
  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible.
  • Passport: A valid Indian passport is mandatory at the time of admission.
  • Medical Fitness: Applicants must be certified physically fit by a DGS-approved medical practitioner, with the certificate valid for at least 18 months. Candidates must have normal eyesight, no color blindness, and a minimum height of 157 cm with proportionate weight and chest measurements.

ADMISSION SCHEDULE & COURSE COMMENCEMENT:

  • Admission Windows: 1st–15th August and 1st–15th December
  • Course Start Dates: 1st September and 1st January (following year)
