The Rajasthan government is set to introduce sweeping reforms in its school education system, aiming to promote uniformity, discipline, and accountability across both government and private schools. Announcing these changes at a press conference held at Kota University, Education Minister Madan Dilawar outlined a series of transformative initiatives, including a common uniform dress code, real-time student attendance tracking, and a new academic calendar beginning April 1.
Common Uniform Dress Code Without Ties
For the first time, all government and private schools in Rajasthan will adopt a common uniform dress code. In a notable shift, the uniform will exclude ties, a move that reflects simplicity and comfort for students.
Minister Dilawar emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce discrimination and promote a sense of equality among students across socio-economic backgrounds. In addition to student uniforms, the government will soon introduce mandatory uniforms and ID cards for teachers, ensuring better identification and uniformity in the education system.
Academic Session to Begin on April 1
Another key reform announced by the minister is the change in the academic session start date. From 2026 onwards, the academic year in Rajasthan will begin on April 1.
According to Dilawar, this shift will allow students to receive their textbooks on time and utilize the summer holidays for preparation and self-study. The Education Minister said that this decision will make the education system more organized, efficient, and student-friendly, addressing long-standing issues of delayed material distribution.
Attendance Linked with National Anthem and National Song
In an effort to instill discipline and patriotism, Rajasthan will now link employee attendance in the School Education, Sanskrit Education, and Panchayati Raj departments to the National Anthem and National Song.
Minister Dilawar clarified, “Employees will only be marked present if they are present during the National Anthem and National Song.”
This policy aims to strengthen the sense of national pride among teachers and staff while also ensuring punctuality and accountability in educational institutions.
Real-Time Attendance Alerts for Parents
A major technological reform announced is the introduction of real-time attendance alerts for parents through the Shala Darpan portal.
Explaining the new feature, Dilawar said, “If a student does not reach school, an immediate notification will be sent to the parent’s registered mobile number.”
This initiative will enable parents to stay informed about their children’s attendance and ensure student safety and regularity. It will also help schools monitor absenteeism and improve discipline.
Preparations Completed for Statewide Implementation
The Education Minister confirmed that all preparations for the statewide rollout of these reforms have been completed. The new attendance system will be implemented across Rajasthan soon.
Minister Dilawar, who oversees three critical departments — Panchayati Raj, Education, and Sanskrit Education — highlighted that new policies are being implemented across all departments to enhance discipline, transparency, and efficiency.
These reforms mark a significant step in Rajasthan’s effort to modernize its education infrastructure, promote equality, and strengthen parent-school coordination through technology.
